The FORD 6F15 transmission is structurally a copy of the FORD 6F35 transmission, but has characteristic differences.
The main emphasis in the design of the 6F15 was placed on maximum lightening of all transmission units and adaptation to low-power 1.0L EcoBoost 120PS / 125PS / 140PS engines that are used on cars:
 

  • Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost 2017- FWD

  • Ford Focus 1.0L EcoBoost 2014- FWD

  • Ford Ecosport 1.0L EcoBoost 2017- FWD. 

As mentioned earlier, the 6F15 transmission is a lighter and smaller version of the 6F35. If we look at the housings of both transmissions from the side, we can see that the 6F15 and 6F35 housings are different in width in the place where the chain drive and the transmission differential are mounted.


The reduction in the width of the housing thickness was achieved due to a constructive solution, namely, reduction in the length of the input shaft and therefore a reduction in the width of the driving and driven sprockets of the chain drive, the width of the sprockets in 6F15 is 14.25 mm, and in 6F35 - 23.30 mm due to this difference, the 6F15 transmission case was "cut". The differential has also been scaled down compared to the 6F35 differential.

It is worth noting that the parking gear and the splined hub that connects to the Output Planet are the same for 6F15 and 6F35 transmissions and have the same catalog number:
FORD 9L8P-7096-AE, and can be installed on both transmission models.
