Input shaft 6F15 FORD 1.0L EcoBoost (shaft length 263 mm)

The FORD 6F15 transmission is structurally a copy of the FORD 6F35 transmission, but has characteristic differences.
The main emphasis in the design of the 6F15 was placed on maximum reducing weight of all transmission units and adaptation to low-power 1.0L EcoBoost 120PS / 125PS / 140PS engines that are used on cars:

Ford Fiesta CE1 2017- FWD
Ford Focus CEW 2014- FWD
Ford Ecosport CR6 2017- FWD.
As mentioned earlier, the 6F15 transmission is a lighter and smaller version of the 6F35. If we look at the housings of both transmissions from the side, we can see that the 6F15 and 6F35 housings are different in width in the place where the transmission chain drive is mounted.


This reduction in the housing was achieved due to a constructive change, namely, a reduction in the width of the driving and driven sprockets of the chain drive, the width of the stars in 6F15 - 14.25 mm, in 6F35 - 23.30 due to this difference, the 6F15 transmission case was "cut"
In connection with these changes, the length of the input shaft in 6F15 was also changed to 263 mm. Input shaft 6F35 - 272 mm.

It should be noted that the changes affected only the front part of the input shaft, the splined part of the torque converter installation. The number of splines (No. 2 in the figure) on the 6F15 shaft remains the same as in the 6F35 - 24 splines, the outer diameters of the spline part are also the same - 18.50 mm.

But the length of the splines that mate with the turbine wheel was reduced in 6F15 to 19 mm, and in 6F35 to 27 mm. The length of the spout (No. 1 in the figure) of the shaft above the spline part, also differ in length in 6F15 is 14 mm, 6F35- 16mm. This data indicates that the torque converters for the two transmissions are different and not interchangeable.
As for the rest, starting from the working part of the planetary gear set and up to the 3-5-R / 4-5-6 Clutch drum, the shafts are absolutely the same in all parameters and sizes.
