A4CF1 - A4CF2 AT valve body repair

The four-speed automatic transmission A4CF1- is a joint development of specialists from Mitsubishi and Hyundai. It was first introduced in 2005 and was intended for small-displacement front-wheel drive cars with engines up to 2 liters. This modification of automatic transmission was installed in Hyundai Accent, Elantra, Getz, Kia Cerato, Spectra, Soul and other small-displacement models. A4CF2 is a modified and reinforced version of the A4CF1, but it is also positioned as an automatic transmission for small cars. The final edition of the A4CF family was released in 2007.

A4CF1 / 2 valve body has a simple design with in-line arrangement of solenoids. The most loaded is the linear pressure solenoid so it is usually is the first to be destroyed and must be replaced.

The remaining solenoids (made in a modular form factor) wear out evenly and, as a rule, the whole kit of solenoids is replaced. A mandatory procedure is to check the solenoid wiring, ATs produced before 2007 in most cases had defects of wiring but not solenoids.

One of the most common defects of the automatic transmission is a bump and jerk when the reverse gear is engaged. The reason for this behavior is the wear of the pressure control valve channel (channel walls destruction, the increase in the section size). To solve this problem, the specialists of the Maktrans company developed a technology for repair of the valve body body, which consists in manufacturing the bushing of the channel and replacing the plunger. The bushing is made of high-quality aluminum and, after installation in the failed channel, returns the previous tightness of the hydraulic system. The parameters of the rebuilt valve body correspond to the operating values of the A4CF1/2 valve body

The regeneration of the valve channel of thevalve body also solves the problems associated with overheating of the clutch, in this case the valve of the torque converter lock-up valve is to be repaired.

To identify areas of the valve body case that do not meet the performance characteristics, a special vacuum tester is used.
