Brake band TF82-SC, automatic transmission 13-UP
Brake band - a device through which the elements of the planetary gear are locked.
Despite its small size, the tape has a fairly strong holding force. Like the brake shoe, the tape uses a self-locking effect. When the tape is released, the shock from the gear change is softened. When the tape is released, it tends to free itself faster.
The main properties of the brake band :
- large holding capacity, despite the small size;
- blocking of rotating elements of the planetary gear set to the automatic transmission case;
- mitigation of jerks and shocks when shifting gears.
The principle of the brake band work.
One end of the brake band is fixed to the automatic transmission body, the other is attached to the servo piston. The belt is driven by a hydraulic cylinder located inside the automatic transmission. Blocking is carried out by supplying oil to the cavity of the servo drive. The servo piston under oil pressure clamps the brake band, thereby blocking the element of the planetary gear set. The blocking is disengaged by supplying oil to the shut-off cavity of the servo drive, thereby equalizing the oil pressure in both cavities. In this case, the piston of the servo drive is moved to its original position by the return spring, the brake band is released
