One end of the brake band is fixed motionless on the automatic transmission housing and the other is attached to the piston of servodrive (actuator). When the oil is fed into the cavity enabling the servodrive (Figure 13), the piston, moving under the pressure of oil (a drawing to the left), clamps the brake band, thereby activating locking element of planetary gear set. Unlocking is performed by applying oil to the servo disabling chamber, thereby equalizing the oil pressure in the two cavities., the servo piston under the pressure of the return spring returns to its original position (to the right), the brake band is released.
