The mechanics of C Clutch work are as follows:


The No.2 ring gear is mechanically connected to the No.3 sun gear and the C Clutch. When the clutch when clutch C is engaged in turn it is activated by the SS3 [SSC] solenoid, torque is transmitted through the No.2 ring gear to the No.3 planetary gear.
