Used only in CVTs, wet DSGs of all manufacturers. The automatic transmission main filter filters wear products up to 10 microns, such as corrosive material, adhesive joints of friction discs, small chips from clutches and locking clutches. An external filter is installed after a major overhaul, a complete oil change or detection of chips in the system; it prevents wear products washed with new oil from entering the valve body and solenoids.
