JF011E (RE0F10A) is the most popular Jatco front-wheel drive continuously variable transmission (variator). Since its introduction in 2005, it has been installed practically in the entire lineup of Nissan (Teana, Tiida, X-Trail, Qashqai, Murano), Renault (Megane, Scenic, Koleos) and even some Dodge and Jeep models. Now it is also one of the most frequent guests in car services, since cars with this box already have serious mileage.

You can read how the overhaul of the JF011E valve body at Maktrans company here. Now let's take a closer look at repairing solenoids.

There are only 4 solenoids in RE0F10A:

  • Torque Converter Lock Solenoid (ON / OFF)
  • Torque Converter Lock Solenoid (PWM)
  • Line Pressure Solenoid
  • Secondary Pressure Solenoid

We have developed and started production of a tool for opening and closing the solenoid housing, which allows you to open the solenoid without damaging the housing, clean and rinse the insides, and if necessary, replace damaged parts with new ones.

The tool consists of a solenoid housing retainer, a flare knife, and a mandrel to close the housing using a press. Coming soon.

Repair of solenoids, as always, begins with their verification at the stand. The stand allows you to evaluate the performance of the solenoid in different temperature conditions and at different pressures. We install the solenoid in the stand and begin testing.

The steps on the graph indicate that the plunger inside the solenoid jams during the stroke. There may be several reasons, either the dirt inside the solenoid or the critical development of the guide bushings.

So we remove the large o-ring from the tip of the solenoid and expand the housing

Now the solenoid can be disassembled. Immediately pay attention to the wearout of guide bushings.

Now the master must  clean the solenoid from dirt very carefully, for which solvent and compressed air are used. Troubleshooting includes examining the surfaces of the bushings for the presence of a working out; if necessary, replace the bushings with new ones. You can proceed to the assembly.

We collect the solenoid and use the mandrel to close it, for this we need a press.

As you can see, our tool makes it very easy to open and close the solenoid housing. In the photo below -  already closed housing, you can install the o-ring back and again return to the stand for final testing.

We install and test. The graph that we see is a 100% guarantee of the full performance of the solenoid.

Repairing 1 JF011E solenoid costs only $40, which is much cheaper than buying a new one (and in the case of the JF011E, there are no new solenoids on sale in principle, which means there is only one alternative - buying a used solenoid), and we give a guarantee.
