The automatic transmission main filter AF-279 filters wear products up to 20 microns , such as corrosive material, adhesive joints of friction discs, small chips from clutches and locking clutches.
An external filter is installed after a major overhaul, a complete oil change, or the detection of chips in the system; it prevents wear products washed with new oil from entering the valve body and solenoids.
