This drum was pressed from the input shaft. In this model's transmissions, the shaft is integral with the 3-5-R / 4-5-6 drum cylinder. Radial wear from the Teflon rings often forms on the inside of the cylinder before the aluminum drum wears out.

To re-press the shaft into the drum, it is necessary to make preparations, namely, weld a volume of metal in place of the old splines that were cut by the steel shaft during the initial installation.

After this, the shaft can be reinstalled. This sequence ensures a secure connection.
Installing the shaft onto existing splines does not guarantee a secure connection and will result in the drum spinning on the shaft!!!
