This drum was removed from used FORD 8F57 transmissions that had damaged input shafts.
We removed the shaft, which was originally pressed into the body of the drum , and cut splines in it. On the inner surface there were traces of the previous fit.
To restore the geometry, a new aluminum layer was welded on and then processed to a standard size. This allows the new shaft to be pressed in and ensures its secure fixation in the drum body.
The surface finish may have slight porosity , which is acceptable. When pressed, the shaft with more than 200 small splines independently forms the seats, cutting them during pressing. This ensures a reliable connection and eliminates the possibility of the shaft turning in the drum.
