- Gearbox works better with (1)
The 62TE transmission is notorious for clutch accumulator bore wear. Once these bores are damaged, the seals can no longer maintain pressure, leading to "limp mode," harsh shifts, and total gear failure. Instead of searching for an expensive (and likely used) replacement case, we offer a precision-machined solution that is better than OEM.
The Problem: Bore Scouring
The aluminum case bores undergo constant friction from the aluminum or plastic accumulator pistons. Over time:
- Bores become: Egg-shaped or deeply scored.
- Fluid bypasses: The seals, dropping line pressure.
- Clutch packs: Specifically the Low/Reverse or Underdrive, burn out prematurely.
Our Precision Solution
We utilize specialized CNC milling and boring equipment (as seen in our shop) to restore hydraulic integrity:
- Precision Boring: We overbore the damaged accumulator sleeves to exact tolerances.
- Sleeve Installation: High-durability steel or hardened aluminum sleeves are installed to provide a superior wear surface.
- Vacuum Testing: Every repaired case is vacuum tested to ensure a 100% hydraulic seal before reassembly.
Why Choose Our Repair?
Cost Effective: Saves hundreds compared to buying a new or refurbished housing.
Increased Longevity: Our sleeved bores are more wear-resistant than the original factory casting.
Fast Turnaround: We keep these sleeves in stock to get your vehicle back on the road quickly.
Symptoms of Accumulator Failure:
Delayed engagement into Drive or Reverse.
"Chatter" or shuddering during shifts.
P0841, P0870, or P0871 Pressure Sensor codes.
Burnt fluid despite low mileage.
