Over time, under the influence of aggressive environment the seals wear out, shrink, lose their original dimensions and begin to let the oil particles out. The oil seal material becomes stiff and loses its elasticity. All this contributes to the growth of frictional force between the oil seal and the shaft, and some of the material from the omentum peels off. The resulting irregularities  increase the wear process and, as a result, a channel is formed between the oil seal and the shaft through which the oil from the gearbox, differential or axle comes out. At the first signs of oil seal wear - wet oil seal, the appearance of small droplets of oil , an oil seal replacement is needed.
