N90 Solenoid (No. 3 Solenoid)
The N90 solenoid is a normally closed solenoid with pulse width modulation (PWM), controls the switching on and off of K3 clutch. When this solenoid is completely turned off, the K3 clutch is fully engaged. If this solenoid fails (error code in VAG 00262) in the "Off" position (normally closed), switching to the 3rd, 5th gear and Revers can be accompanied by thumps.

Solenoid K3 is a linear solenoid. It activates 3, 5 and reverse gear. Faulty gears shifting can cause solenoid failure. The most common problem in the 09G, 09K, 09M is that after 20 kilometers, automatic transmission is heated and solenoid gets stuck, delaying pressure supply to K3 pack.
