The shift solenoids 1 and 2 operate in On or Off positions. Solenoid # 1 generates high or low pressure. When 12 Volts voltage is applied on the solenoid of 4HP16 automatic transmission line pressure is 6-8 bar. If there is no 12 volts on the solenoid 1, we have the pressure of 16-18 bar. Solenoid # 2 directs oil flow to pack E (Off), or to lock the torque converter (On).
