The solenoid for connecting the rear drive is responsible for connecting the rear axle to the general kinematic scheme of the automatic transmission, the differential lock allows you to control the rotation of the wheels of one axis at a single angular speed. This solution is used in sports cars to improve the stability and balance of torque between axles, which allows to combine high engine power and lightweight sports car bodywork. Also, the connection of the rear axle and the locking of the differential is a distinguishing feature and sign of the off-road car class, in this case the operation of both axles allows to overcome obstacles that are not available for conventional front- or rear-drive models.

One of the reasons of the differential lock system malfunction is the failure of the corresponding solenoid (D2). At the same time, the behavior of the car on flat sections of the road does not cause complaints, but when trying to enter the turn "at speed" all wheels continue to rotate at the same speed, which causes jerking, premature wear of the tire tread, and at a sufficiently high speed a sharp sound of braking.

In most cases, the failure of the differential lock solenoid is associated with mechanical wear of the moving parts of the electromechanical valve.

The external inspection of the solenoid body does not reveal any serious defects and it may seem that everything is in order.

After the solenoid is dismantled and  the structural elements are carefully examined, signs of the sleeves wearout are found. This wearout is the result of the electromechanical valve jamming. The jamming occurs due to the solenoid central axis damage and the inductive coil drive rod runout.

To solve the problem of connecting the rear axle and blocking the differential, specialists of the Maktrans company  offer  replacing the solenoid D2 for a new one. The repair kit contains original solenoids which meet the requirements of the automatic transmission manufacturer. Repair is carried out during one day. Before returning to the owner, every car undergoes road tests, during which special attention is paid to the behavior of the car in the blocking mode. The quality of the work is confirmed by the number of grateful customers and  1 year warranty.

Center differential lock rear axle switching solenoid of 4EAT transmission is not delivered separately. If your Subaru does not enter into the turn, and the wheels are rolling in spurts, it means the solenoid got stuck and all four wheels rotate at the same speed. Change D2 solenoid and the problem will be solved. Solenoid task is to compress clutch plates in automatic transmission rear cover.
