It is used only in CVTs, wet DSGs of all manufacturers.The main filter of automatic transmission filters wear products up to 10 microns, such as corrosive material, adhesive bonding of friction discs, small chips from friction clutches and lock-up clutches. An external filter is installed after a major overhaul, a complete oil change or the detection of chips in the system, it prevents wear products washed out with new oil from entering the valve body and solenoids.
