ZF 5HP19 / 5HP19FLA torque converter, the most common and popular in repair, is a vulnerable place in the 5HP series, especially if the operating conditions are not respected and the driver exerts excessively high loads on the transmission.
The standard repair is a replacement of the friction lining on the locking piston, oil seal and the sealing rubber ring, the cost of this repair is ~ $ 75. Some modifications of this torque converter were equipped with a friction plate, in this case the repair cost is ~ $ 107.
