Flex Plate Runout Check
Always check the runout of the flex plate before installation. The total runout should not exceed 0.10mm.
Why this is critical:
When the runout exceeds 0.10 mm, the torque converter hub stops spinning in a perfect circle and starts "orbiting." This creates a heavy side-load that the pump components were not designed to handle, leading to premature failure.
FORScan Reset Procedure
Use a laptop and an ELM327 adapter to perform the reset:
- Open FORScan and connect to the vehicle.
- Navigate to the Service Functions tab (the wrench icon).
- Select TCM: Reset Adaptive Learning.
- Click the Play button and follow the prompts.
Pro Tip: The 10R80 transmission learns best when the oil temperature is between 80° and 90° C.

We are performing a complete internal transmission overhaul. This involves a surgical teardown to address the common 10R80 pressure loss issues. We are replacing the clutch packs, updating the CDF drum assembly to the revised design, and installing a new seal kit to restore factory-spec hydraulic integrity.
While Teflon rings work fine for a standard daily driver, we are installing PEEK rings to ensure this is the last time this transmission needs to come apart. It’s essentially 'bulletproofing' the fluid circuits of the shaft.
Upgrading from Teflon (PTFE) to PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) seals is a significant durability play, especially in high-heat or high-pressure automatic transmissions.
We are performing a bushing-to-bearing upgrade (or precision bushing replacement) on the torque converter. By replacing the original cast iron bushing, we provide a superior mount for the turbine wheel. This eliminates internal 'wobble' or run-out, ensuring the turbine stays perfectly centered even under heavy acceleration.
