Gear selector position sensor main task is- the transfer of information about the gear selector position to  the automatic transmission control unit. If you start the engine and the car does not respond to the gear selector shift to position D or R – a problem may be in the sensor. It may fail due to various reasons, such as erased contacts or getting of water inside.
