The Direct drum of the 5L40E automatic transmission rotates on the pump hub and transmits rotation from the third to the fifth gear. The upper package includes the reverse gear. The drum is changed in case of severe overheating or wear from the Teflon rings of the pump hub.

The outer diameter of the drum is 190 mm.
The number of splines on the inside of the drum is 37 pcs.
The inner diameter of the inner sleeve on the front of the drum (pump stator side) is 58.15 mm.
