Four couplings are driven by hydraulic shifting forks. Each fork is held by ball bearings in two steel bushings. Steel bushings are pressed into the gearbox housing and are the working surface of two plungers that can move the fork in both directions. Through openings in the gearbox housing, control pressure is supplied to the rearward (open) cylinder cavities (hydraulic cylinders). Each shift fork is equipped with a separate sensor that responds to the exact position and travel of the shift fork.

Pressure is applied to the shift forks in such a way that, depending on the requirement, they take a left or right end position (the corresponding gear is engaged), or an intermediate (neutral) position.
