CheckoutHow to select an electronic transmission control unit 722.8?
(The TCMs presented in this section are pre-programmed for a specific vehicle model. The model appears as a six-digit code.)
- Where can I find the code?
- How do I determine the model of my car?
There are several options.
Option No. 1.
For European market vehicles.
The car model code is recorded in the VIN code of the car.
These are 6 digits located after the three-digit letter code.

If you read the same VIN using any service available to you, you will see:
- 1. (in the picture) | We use the VIN from the previous photo.
- 2. (in the picture) | We see the same car model code, in this case 169.008.
- 3. (in the picture) | The program displays our code in full format - Mercedes-Benz A 200 CDI 169.008.

Option No. 2.
For vehicles in the US and Canadian markets.

The VIN code of a vehicle for the US market has a different format.
It is impossible to determine the model only using the registration document and the information plate located on the body without reading it!
How to get a 6-digit model code for US market vehicles?
Let's look at the example of VIN code WDDFH3DBXBJ622673.
Looking at the plate in the marked place, we do not find a 6-digit digital code

- 1. (in the picture) | Read the VIN code.
- 2. (in the figure) | We obtain the required model code.

Using the code obtained using one of the described methods, you can select an electronic unit programmed for your car model.
