CheckoutThe 5-speed automatic transmission ZF 5HP18 was introduced in production from 1991 to 1999 and was used in rear-wheel-drive models of BMW's 3rd, 5th, and 7th series with engines ranging from 2 to 3 liters in displacement.
This transmission shares similar characteristics with the 4-speed models 4HP14 and 4HP22, and its closest relative is the later version, the ZF 5HP19, designed for less powerful engines with a torque of 310 Nm (compared to 325 Nm for the 5HP19).
The ZF 5HP18 is a reliable and durable gearbox with a wide margin of strength, which served as the basis for the later and more popular model, the ZF 5HP19.
