Transmission assemblies 8F57

Key Rebuild Upgrades and Durability Fixes:

  • Helical Gear Support Bushing Replacement: Replacing the main support bushing to restore alignment and ensure a perfect hydraulic seal for the torque converter lockup clutch pressure, preventing slippage and burnout.
    8F57 Bushing Replacement
  • Torque Converter Overhaul: Replacing the constantly slipping factory lockup clutch friction ring with an upgraded, heavy-duty lining to stop shudder, prevent material contamination of the valve body, and ensure a strong connection.

  • Sealing Ring Upgrade: Replacing the factory Teflon internal sealing rings with advanced PEEK rings to prevent degradation from high heat and friction, which causes internal hydraulic leaks.

  • Aluminum Drum Replacement: Replacing the worn aluminum drum, which often develops cut notches and scoring from steel plates and sealing rings, to restore hydraulic pressure and prevent slipping and harsh shifts.

8F57 Diagnostics & Solenoids

The 8F57 relies heavily on Variable Force Solenoids (VFS). If these get "sticky" due to debris or fluid degradation, you'll see:

P0751 / P0756 / P0761: Shift Solenoid Performance or Stuck Off. This usually means the solenoid is electrically fine but mechanically jammed.

P2700 - P2704: Transmission Friction Element Apply Time Range/Performance. These are "adaptation" codes. If the TCM has to adjust the shift timing too far beyond factory limits to compensate for wear, it triggers these.

Code Description
P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio. General slipping; often a failing solenoid or worn clutch E.
P0731 - P0736 Gear 1 (through 6) Incorrect Ratio. Specific gear failure. If it's P0734 (4th), check the C-clutch.
P0780 Shift Error. The Mechatronic tried to shift, but the mechanical action failed.
P17F9 Parking Lock Mechanical Malfunction. Common in the 8HP65A; often a salt/dirt buildup on the external linkage or an internal sensor failure.

Why Choose Our Gearboxes?

100% Road-Tested: We never sell a gearbox based solely on a workbench test. Every single transmission is rigorously road-tested under real driving conditions before it ever reaches your hands. When you install it, you know it works.

Complete Refurbishment: Worn clutches, failing solenoids, and tired seals are completely replaced or meticulously rebuilt so you get a transmission that shifts like new.

Expertise You Can Trust: We know the intricate details of these units inside and out, from the mechanical components to the electronic control software.
